Teepham Medical Sdn. Bhd. was honored to donate Progetti’s Rescue Sam automated external defibrillator (AED) to the PIBA Badminton Hall during the opening ceremony of the hall inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Chow Kon Yeow.
We realize the importance for sport facilities to have an AED as it provides a life-saving solution for sudden cardiac arrest that is caused by chaotic electrical activity in the heart that can only be treated with an electric shock called defibrillation. The average age of people suffering from cardiac arrest is between 35 and 44. However, some younger sports people may have an undiagnosed heart condition.
Having an AED close at hand can make all the difference. Research shows that using an AED within 3 to 5 minutes of a cardiac arrest can mean survival rates are as high as 50-70%. Many lives have been saved during sporting activities by having an AED present at the time of cardiac arrest.
